2024 DreamWidth Plans

Been thinking about what I want to do with my journal in the new year. There's a few things I want to start doing. It is possibly too much but I guess I can always drop some stuff. Here's what I'm thinking:
MilWordY
I want to try and do MilWordY next year even though I will almost undoubtedly fail at it. To try and keep myself motivated, I think I'll do an update on my progress each week.
Book Reviews
I'm still going to do my monthly book lists, but I want to start writing reviews about a majority of the things I read, so hopefully the book lists will become more of a masterlist of reviews than just a list of all the random stuff I happen to read. Plus, the reviews would count for MilWordY! I'm also thinking of trying to make themed rec lists for each month so I can shove all my favourites into your faces.
Art Journey
Okay this is a dumb thing to do at the same time as MilWordY but I've lost all my art skills and want to get them back, so I want to fill a sketchbook page every day to get that good good practice in. I'm thinking that every week I'll post my favourite drawings that I did that week. I think if I stick with it it would be cool to look back on them and see how I've improved over the year. Depending on how embarassingly bad these are, they might be f-locked, but I'll try to be brave and make them public.
Fic Lists
I have a lot of fanfic bookmarked for later and haven't been getting around to reading it all. So this year I want to make a conscious effort to read fanfics and spam authors with kudos and comments. I think I'll log my fanfic reading like I do with my book lists, just posting a big roundup (with links) at the end of each month. I might even do rec lists at some point. These will probably be f-locked. Because I don't need the whole world seeing my reading habits.
Other Reviews and Rants
I think I'd also like to write some reviews of video games, movies, and TV episodes, but I think these will be less frequent than book reviews because I just don't get around to doing much of this stuff. But I have a couple of video games I really want to write about (aw ye, MilWordY words) and I was thinking of rewatching some TOS episodes and tearing them apart but we'll see if I have the patience to rewatch those.
So yeah... probably too much to dump on my plate. But I guess I can always quit MilWordY if it's too much to accomplish. But I'd like to try it at least. And adding some creative nonfiction will help me not burn out I think. Drawing every day will be hard because I suck and my suckiness is discouraging but as a weirdy stretchy yellow dog once said, sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something. And I'll have to make another icon I guess...
