Reading Challenges 2024

It's 2024, so new year new reading challenges! Like last year, this year I am doing five challenges (outside my book count and page goal). Three of them come from The StoryGraph and two of them are personal challenges I've set out to get through some of my TBR.

Goals
This year my goal is to read at least 120 books, and at least 50000 pages.

Challenges

The StoryGraph's Onboarding Reading Challenge 2024
A low-pressure challenge of 6 prompts designed to encourage exploration of the app and it's features.

Series Completionist 2024
A personal challenge to finish all the series that I started 2023 or earlier. (I have to finish/catch up on 12 series, for a total of 14 books (much less than last year!!))

1. The Lady Astronaut (2 book unread) 2. Frankie Elkin (1 book unread) 3. Children of Time (2 books unread) 4. Vox Machina Origins (1 book unread) 5. The Murderbot Disaries (1 book unread) 6. Owned/Borrowed Books 2024
This is a challenge to get through all the books I own or have borrowed. Well, one of last year's challenges was to read all the books I owned (acquired in 2022 or earlier) and borrowed, and I barely made a dent in that 50 book list. Now this year the challenge is to read everything I acquired 2023 and earlier, which basically doubles my list. This year I have 100 books to read for this challenge because of last year's failings. Gulp!

1. Owned Books (99 books unread)

2. Borrowed Books (1 books borrowed)

Well, wish me luck, because I'm certainly going to need it. But hey, at least I don't have to read most of the Wheel of Time this year!

Reading Challenges 2023

It's that time of year, the time of picking out wholly unsustainable challenges! This year I am doing five challenges (outside my book count and page goal). Three of them come from The StoryGraph and two of them are personal challenges I've set out to get through some of my TBR.

Series Completionist
A personal challenge to finish all the series that I started in 2021 and 2022. There is a lot. I have to finish 18 series (a total of 51 books)

1. The Wheel of Time (10 books unread)

2. Six of Crows (1 book unread)

3. Ingrid Barrøy (3 books unread)

4. The Poppy War (2 books unread)

18. Bird Family Trilogy (2 books unread)

Owned/Borrowed Books
This is a challenge to get through all the books I own or have borrowed. As an avid library user I find it hard to get around to reading books that I own because there's no deadlines. And I think I've been hoarding books borrowed from my dad for like three years. To make this remotely possible, I'm only counting books acquired in in 2022 or earlier so I'm not constantly adding to this challenge every time I walk into the used bookstore. This challenge has a total of 50 books for me to read.

1. Owned Books (47 books unread)

2. Borrowed Books (3 books borrowed)

So yeah, those are my challenges. My two personal challenges have me reading over 100 particular books, but the StoryGraph prompts give me a bit of leeway to pick and choose. I'll make another post at the end of the year to tell you what I read and how I did! Wish me luck!
